Job Description
The ideal candidate will be flexible and possess experience and knowledge of rail and Network Rail standards and procedures. You should have excellent numerical skills, communication and interpersonal skills with a positive attitude towards daily duties. You will also have experience and knowledge in the implementation of precise geotechnical design i.e. earthworks, foundations (deep, shallowed and piled) retaining walls and ground investigations along with slope stability assessments and geotechnical design software namely SlopeW, WALLAP, VDISP/PDISP, SLIDE and REPUTE.
Your main duties will include managing the geotechnical team as well as assisting in the provision and delivery of factual and interpretive reports and geotechnical data.
You will review and assess desk studies, ground investigations and supervise construction as well as produce geotechnical calculations and sketched designs for structures for a portfolio of projects that match company and client requirements, national standards and codes of practice. This includes building relationships with clients and keeping them updated on project progress.
As part of your role, you will provide direction and technical guidance to team members and conduct site inspections. This also includes inspecting submitted designs implemented by contractors to Network Rail, advising appropriate method solutions for site remediation. You will manage designated projects or aspects of the project, controlling your own resource assignments and for other members of staff, ensuring quality, client feedback plus any project adjustments.
You will also be working with other disciplinary design teams and ensure positive ethics for all design tasks produced as well as contribute towards the intention of technical issues and manage all criteria of commercial aspects such as dealing with contracts, debt & client management and invoicing for each project responsible.

Overview of Role:
They are now looking to recruit a Technical Director for their South East Geotechnical team based in London who has practical geotechnical work and design experience, to join their growing Geosciences business predominately working within our Utilities, Highways and Rail sectors, but also working on a wide portfolio of schemes throughout the UK.
Reporting to the Geoscience Senior Management Team and working closely with the local Team Leader, you will be accountable for managing and reviewing components of projects, working in collaboration with other design disciplines and providing technical inputs to projects.
